Empower.
“When we are able to feel Empowered, we truly begin to shift from a life where we are surviving, to one where we are thriving. My favorite part of being a therapist is when I get to witness this transformation that happens when people feel empowered and begin to believe in themselves, to find their voice, to build confidence, to embrace who they are now and who they want to be in the future.”
Life can be challenging and can lead to self-doubt, feelings of not being “good enough” or being “too much.” There may times you simply feel defeated, like you are just surviving from day to day. You do not have to stay stuck in “survive” mode.
My passion is to support women and empower them to find their voice and strength. I also greatly enjoy working with new parents, entrepreneurs, and other mental health professionals (because we need to take care of our own mental health too!). I provide a brave space that supports you wherever you are on your journey so that you feel equipped to face life’s biggest challenges and process and resolve trauma. I approach therapy from the belief that everyone is capable of change and healing is possible. It is an honor to guide people through the therapy process so they can truly thrive.
What I treat: Anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders (including birth trauma, parenting a child with special needs, infant loss), low self-worth, body image, adjustment to life changes.
My primary treatment approach is centered around the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, and Empowerment. I also focus on the role the body plays in holding our emotions and trauma and how to use the body as a way to improve your mental wellness.
Experience: My education includes obtaining my bachelors of Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2005 and my masters of Social Work from Western Michigan University in 2013. I am EMDRIA trained in EMDR therapy and also have training in Perinatal Mood Disorders through Postpartum Support International (PSI). I have worked previously in case management, hospice, grief support, NICU parent support and in the medical field.
Favorite Part of Being a Therapist: One of my favorite parts of being a therapist in a private practice setting is the freedom to customize YOUR treatment in a manner that best meet YOUR needs. I enjoy getting creative and building off of the strengths You already have.
